Local Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) organizations help parents take the guesswork out of choosing care - giving them referrals to local child care providers, information on state licensing requirements, availability of child care subsidies, and other pertinent information.
Emergency Assistance
 
Modest Needs. Nonprofit started 6 years ago to help people with small, immediate needs. Documenation is required to qualify for this program. Ex: Your child set fire to your kitchen curtains and you incur a $500.00 deductible and can not afford your car payment that month. With the appropriate documentation ModestNeeds.org may be able to help you. Money never goes to the applicant directly, payment is sent to the company where a debt is due.
 
2 Hands was created for one absolute purpose; to help those in need. Those who are requesting assistance can post their requests to this site via our assistance page or via U.S. Mail. 2 Hands will happily mail you a form to complete and return postage paid if you like.
 
Food Assistance
 
Angel Food Ministries Blessings by the box Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items with an average retail value of approximately $60. Comparison shopping has been done across the country in various communities using a wide range of retail grocery stores and has resulted in the same food items costing from between $42 and $78.
 
Great Food for All The "Basic Food Box" anchors the program and is loaded with enough food to assist feeding a family of four for about a week, or a single person for almost a month! This food box, with a retail value of between $60 - $80 is provided for only $30.
Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks(OASHF), an organization that represents 12 foodbanks, which then distribute food to more than 3,300 member charities, including food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and other hunger relief organizations that reach all 88 Ohio counties.

It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free.

Homeowner's Assistance
 
2009 Summer Crisis Program. Some households in Ohio may be eligible for a one-time payment of up to $175 toward their electric bill or depending on the area of the state the applicant resides in, assistance with cooling equipment. Save the Dream: Ohio's Foreclosure Prevention Effort was designed to help those who are facing the possibility of foreclosure on their home. The program offers suggestions and advice on ways to prevent foreclosure and where to go for help when foreclosure is looming. Call the Hotline at 1-888-404-4674 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 Noon.
 
Making Homes Affordable mortgage refinance/modification programs. Refinancing: Many homeowners pay their mortgages on time but are not able to refinance to take advantage of today's lower mortgage rates perhaps due to a decrease in the value of their home. A Home Affordable Refinance will help borrowers whose loans are held by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac refinance into a more affordable mortgage. Modification: Many homeowners are struggling to make their monthly mortgage payments either because their interest rate has increased or they have less income. A Home Affordable Modification will provide them with mortgage payments they can afford.
 
The American Dream Down Payment Act is a down payment assistance initiative that allows grants to be given to participating jurisdictions to assist low-to-mid-income families and uniformed employees such as, policemen, firemen, sanitation, maintenance workers, and teachers who are employees of the participating state to achieve homeownership.
 
Home Energy Assistance  With one Energy Assistance Application, you may apply for several federally or state-funded energy assistance programs administered by the Office of Community Services: the Home Energy Assistance Program ( HEAP) , the Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program ( E-HEAP), and the Percentage of Income Payment Plan for ( PIPP).The Energy Assistance Application can also be used to apply for the Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP).
